The first journal published by the Korean Academy of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases was ˇ°Tuberculosisˇ± in 1954 (published by the Korean Tuberculosis Association).
ˇ°Tuberculosisˇ± is the tuberculosis specialized academic journal. About 2,000 copies of the first issue were printed out in 1954, and the journal was published once or twice every year. In 1962, the publication management of ˇ°Tuberculosisˇ± was transferred to the Korean Academy of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases, and 3,000 copies of three issues were distributed to the members, related agencies, the International Union Against Tuberculosis member countries, and libraries under the changed title of ˇ°Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases (Korean title)ˇ±.
The journal had been published two or three times every year until 1964; the quarterly publication since 1966; the bimonthly publication since 1992; and then monthly publication since 1999. ˇ°Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases (Korean title)ˇ± along with previous ˇ°Tuberculosisˇ± is one of the scientific journals with the longest history in Korea. Internationally, the abstract of articles from the journal is published in EMBASE (Excerpta Medica).
The title of the journal was changed to ˇ°Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseasesˇ± with broad updates in the size and cover of the journal in July 2004.
